Matthew 27:46

By dying on the cross Jesus Christ accomplished what the law of Moses COULD NOT. The law given to the Jews required animal blood to atone for sin, but it DID NOT CHANGE THEIR HEARTS - they kept disobeying God because of their sinful nature. They are sinners. The purpose of the law was to make them realize that they were sinners. That’s it. With the sinful nature, it’s impossible to be obedient and the blood of an animal cannot remove it.

Therefore Jesus Christ became a perfect sacrifice - the Lamb of God - NOT ONLY to atone for the sins BUT ALSO to transform human hearts by REMOVING their sinful nature. This is called HEART CIRCUMCISION, and only Jesus Christ by His divine power can to remove it. When it happens He reveals Himself to the person in His Glory and gives His Holy Spirit - which the NEW COVENANT “written on hearts,” NOT on stone tablets. This is being BORN AGAIN of the Spirit. A circumcised (born again) person can OBEY and do GOD’s WILL. It requires faith and repentance.

The meaning of what Jesus Christ said on the cross;

Matthew 27:45–46

“At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”

“WHY HAVE YOU ABANDONED ME” refers to the law followers - those are the PROPHETIC WORDS. The law followers are the ones who FORSAKEN God by being disobedient. If they do not repent to have their hearts circumcised, GOD WILL FORSAKE THEM ➡️ and they will ask Him that very question.

  • Jeremiah 19:4 “For ISRAEL HAS FORSAKEN ME AND TURNED THIS VALLEY INTO A PLACE OF WICKEDNESS. The people burn incense to foreign gods—idols never before acknowledged by this generation, by their ancestors, or by the kings of Judah. And they have filled this place with the blood of innocent children.”

  • 1 Kings 19:10 “Elijah replied, “I have zealously served the Lord God Almighty. But the people of ISRAEL HAVE BROKEN THEIR COVENANT WITH YOU, torn down your altars, and killed every one of your prophets. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me, too.”

  • Jeremiah 9:25–26 “A time is coming,” says the Lord, “when I will punish all those who are circumcised in body but not in spiritthe Egyptians, Edomites, Ammonites, Moabites, the people who live in the desert in remote places, and yes, even the people of Judah. And like all these pagan nations, the people of Israel also have uncircumcised hearts.”

  • Matthew 7:21–23 “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

God is Spirit and He never left Jesus Christ, because THEY ARE ONE! God’s Spirit is in Jesus Christ - He came from His Spirit, spoke God’s Words, did His will, and returned to His Spirit. They are NEVER SEPARATE! Jesus Christ is the visible image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). God could not and did not forsake Himself.

John 8:28–29

“So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man on the cross, then YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THAT I AM HE. I do nothing on my own but say only what the Father taught me. And THE ONE WHO SENT ME IS WITH ME—HE HAS NOT DESERTED ME. For I always do what pleases him.”

“IT IS FINISHED” refers to the end of the slavery to the law. The law will still be used for judgment, but sinners WILL BE found guilty - because of their uncircumcised hearts - their sinful nature. So the law is NOT abolished. Jesus Christ sets free from slavery to sinful nature those who call on His name to save them. They get freedom from the law because they are no longer sinners, so they do not need the law - because they don’t break it. They do not repeat their sins. The Holy Spirit makes them Holy. The holy nature aligns with the Holy Law, but the sinful nature doesn’t.

John 19:28–30

“Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture he said, “I am thirsty.” A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips. When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “IT IS FINISHED!” Then he bowed his head and gave up HIS SPIRIT.”

  • Hebrews 8:13 “When God speaks of a “new” covenant, it means he has made the first one obsolete. It is now out of date and will soon disappear.”

Isaiah 62:4

“Never again will you be called “The Forsaken City” or “The Desolate Land.”

Your NEW NAME will be “The City of God’s Delight” and “THE BRIDE OF GOD,” for the Lord delights in you and will claim you as HIS BRIDE.”

Isaiah 62:12

“They will be called “THE HOLY PEOPLE” and “THE PEOPLE REDEEMED BY THE LORD.” And Jerusalem will be known as “The Desirable Place” and “The City No Longer Forsaken.”

Revelation 21:5–9

“And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.” And he also said, “IT IS FINISHED! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life. All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.

“But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Then one of the seven angels who held the seven bowls containing the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come with me! I will show you THE BRIDE, THE WIFE OF THE LAMB.”

2 Corinthians 3:13–18

“We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel would not see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away. But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. Yes, even today when they read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand.

But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.”
