Why Moses Did Not Enter

There are two kinds of disciples:

The disciples of Moses (religion) - rely on obeying the law.

1 Corinthians 10:1-2 “I don’t want you to forget, dear brothers and sisters, about our ancestors in the wilderness long ago. All of them were guided by a cloud that moved ahead of them, and all of them walked through the sea on dry ground. In the cloud and in the sea, all of them were baptized as followers of Moses.”

➡️ It is IMPOSSIBLE TO OBEY THE LAW and to be made right in God's eyes. Following the law doesn't remove the sinful nature, so the person keeps sinning (breaking the law).

Colossians 2:23 “These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, pious self-denial, and severe bodily discipline. But they provide NO HELP in conquering a person’s evil desires.”

Romans 4:14 “If God’s promise is only for those who obey the law, then faith is not necessary and the promise is pointless.”

Galatians 5:3-4 “I’ll say it again. If you are trying to find favor with God by being circumcised, you must obey every regulation in the whole law of Moses. For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.” 

The disciples of Jesus Christ (faith) - rely on a relationship with God

Matthew 9:9 “As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at his tax collector’s booth. “Follow me and be my disciple,” Jesus said to him. So Matthew got up and followed him.”

➡️ THE ONLY WAY TO OBEY THE LAW is to be baptized with the Holy Spirit. This requires Faith and Repentance. By receiving the Holy Spirit we enter into a relationship with God - He removes the sinful nature and comes to live in our hearts.

Ezekiel 36:25-27 "Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols. And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.” 

Ezekiel 37:14 "I will put my Spirit in you, and you will live again and return home to your own land. Then you will know that I, the Lord, have spoken, and I have done what I said. Yes, the Lord has spoken!’” 

Hebrews 10:16 “This is THE NEW COVENANT I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord: I will put MY LAWS IN THEIR HEARTS, and I will write them on their minds.” 

Romans 7:6 “But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit.” 

THE PROMISED LAND IS THE KINGDOM OF GOD IN HEAVEN. What happened on Earth was only symbolic. Moses not entering the land on earth, was also symbolic.

Moses himself was God's servant and God was pleased with him. He tried telling his followers to repent and give their hearts to God, but they were stubborn, entitled, proud, and rebellious. That's why they were given the law - to keep them accountable for their wicked actions.

Moses was kept from entering as a sign to those who follow him and the law (instead of giving their hearts to God) - that they WOULD NOT ENTER EITHER 🛑

Hebrews 3:7-19 

“That is why THE HOLY SPIRIT says, 

“Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled, when they tested me in the wilderness. There your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw my miracles for forty years. So I was angry with them, and I said, ‘Their hearts always turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’ So in my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest.’” 

Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God. You must warn each other every day, while it is still “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God. For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ. Remember what it says: 

“Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.” 

And who was it who rebelled against God, even though they heard his voice? Wasn’t it the people Moses led out of Egypt? And who made God angry for forty years? Wasn’t it the people who sinned, whose corpses lay in the wilderness? And to whom was God speaking when he took an oath that they would never enter his rest? Wasn’t it the people who disobeyed him? So we see that BECAUSE OF THEIR UNBELIEF THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO ENTER HIS REST."

Deuteronomy 1:37 “And the Lord was also angry with me because of you. He said to me, ‘Moses, not even you will enter the Promised Land!” 

AFTER MOSES DIED

God appointed JOSHUA, THE SON OF NUN (the high priest) who led people into the promised land after those who disobeyed died. The ones who entered were the next generation.

THE NAME

YEHOSHUA (in Hebrew) = IESOUS (in Greek)

The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and The New Testament was written in Greek, therefore:

JOSHUA - English translation from Hebrew - YEHOSHUA or Yeshua

JESUS - English translation from Greek - IESOUS

Zechariah 3:3–9 

“Jeshua’s clothing was filthy as he stood there before the angel. So THE ANGEL said to the others standing there, “Take off his filthy clothes.” And turning to Jeshua he said, “See, I HAVE TAKEN AWAY YOUR SINS, and now I am giving you these fine NEW CLOTHES.” 

Then I said, “They should also place a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean priestly turban on his head and dressed him in new clothes while the angel of the Lord stood by. 

Then the angel of the Lord spoke very solemnly to Jeshua and said, “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: IF YOU FOLLOW MY WAYS AND CAREFULLY SERVE ME, then you will be given authority over my Temple and its courtyards. I will let you walk among these others standing here. “Listen to me, O Jeshua the high priest, and all you other priests. YOU ARE SYMBOLS OF THINGS TO COME. 

Soon I am going to bring MY SERVANT, THE BRANCH. Now look at the jewel I have set before Jeshua, A SINGLE STONE WITH SEVEN FACETS. I will engrave an inscription on it, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, and I will remove the sins of this land in a single day.” 

Galatians 3:27 “And all who have been UNITED WITH CHRIST in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on NEW CLOTHES.” 

The Angel of the Lord who took away Joshua's sins was Christ Himself - in His glorious body, before being born as human, named Jesus. The BRANCH is CHRIST born in a human body.

Jesus Christ is the stone (the cornerstone)

Seven facets is the Sevenfold Spirit of God

John 10:30 "The Father and I are ONE"

Zechariah 6:12–13 

“Tell him, ‘This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Here is THE MAN CALLED THE BRANCH. He will BRANCH OUT from where he is and build the Temple of the Lord. Yes, he will build the Temple of the Lord. Then he will receive royal honor and will rule as king from his throne. He will also serve as priest from his throne, and there will be perfect harmony between his TWO ROLES.’” 

Jesus Christ "Branches Out" when He baptizes someone with His Holy Spirit. Whoever receives the Holy Spirit becomes part of Him - the Spiritual Temple of God.

John 15:5–8 “Yes, I AM THE VINE; you are THE BRANCHES. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, YOU ARE MY TRUE DISCIPLES. This brings great glory to my Father.” 🙌🏻 

1 Peter 2:5 “And YOU ARE LIVING STONES that God is building into HIS SPIRITUAL TEMPLE. What’s more, you are HIS HOLY PRIESTS. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer SPIRITUAL SACRIFICES that please God.” 

Hebrews 4:6-11 

“So GOD'S REST IS THERE FOR PEOPLE TO ENTER, but those who first heard this good news failed to enter because they disobeyed God. So God set another time for entering his rest, and that time is TODAY. God announced this through David much later in the words already quoted: 

“Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts.” 

Now if Joshua had succeeded in giving them this rest, God would not have spoken about another day of rest still to come. So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.” 

Galatians 2:16-21 

“Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.” 

But suppose we seek to be made right with God through faith in Christ and then we are found guilty because we have abandoned the law. Would that mean Christ has led us into sin? Absolutely not! Rather, I am a sinner if I rebuild the old system of law I already tore down. For WHEN I TRIED TO KEEP THE LAW, IT CONDEMNED ME. So I DIED TO THE LAW—I STOPPED TRYING to meet all its requirements—SO THAT I MIGHT LIVE FOR GOD. My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but CHRIST LIVES IN ME. So I live in this earthly body by TRUSTING IN THE SON OF GOD, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.” 

John 10:27 "My sheep listen to my voice; I KNOW THEM, and THEY FOLLOW ME."
