How to pray

When Jesus prayed, He always went alone and never disclosed what He prayed about (apart from a few exceptional prayers that are meant to teach us important details, explained below).

As a general rule, He told us to pray in the same way ➡️ IN PRIVATE.

Matthew 6:5-15

“When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get.

But when you pray, GO AWAY BY YOURSELF, SHUT THE DOOR BEHIND YOU, AND PRAY TO YOUR FATHER IN PRIVATE. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! PRAY LIKE THIS:

Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.

“If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins."

The important part of the prayer is "Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us." We NEED to forgive ALL other people who have hurt us, otherwise, we would be lying to God by saying those words in the prayer! It needs to be true.

And if people lie to God that they have forgiven when they haven't - they should NOT expect those prayers to be answered. We cannot trick God with what is in our hearts because He made them and KNOWS what's in them. He reads us like an open book and we are in no way mysterious to Him!

  • Psalm 33:14-15 "From his throne he observes all who live on the earth. He made their hearts, so he understands everything they do."

  • Jeremiah 17:10 "But I, the Lord, SEARCH ALL HEARTS AND EXAMINE SECRET MOTIVES. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.”

IF YOU ARE THE PERSON WHO SINNED AGAINST ANOTHER, you should acknowledge your wrongdoing, repent, seek forgiveness, and reconciliation, and make amends. If your PRIDE stands in the way - that's a SPIRITUAL SIN that requires repentance.

  • Job‬ 36‬:8‬-10”If they are bound in chains and caught up in a web of trouble, he shows them the reason. He shows them their SINS OF PRIDE. He gets their attention and COMMANDS that they turn from evil.“

Matthew 5:21-24

TEACHING ABOUT ANGER

“You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’ But I say, if you are even ANGRY WITH SOMEONE, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And IF YOU CURSE SOMEONE, you are in danger of the fires of hell.

“So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and YOU SUDDENLY REMEMBER THAT SOMEONE HAS SOMETHING AGAINST YOU, leave your sacrifice there at the altar. GO AND BE RECONCILED TO THAT PERSON. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God."

  • prayer is a form of sacrifice;

  • Proverbs 15:8 "The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but he delights in the prayers of the upright."

  • "Sudden remembrance" is not a coincidence! God is the one who reminds us! Do not ignore it!

Luke 17:3-4

"So watch yourselves! “If another believer sins, REBUKE THAT PERSON; then IF THERE IS REPENTANCE, FORGIVE. Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and ASKS forgiveness, YOU MUST FORGIVE.”

  • This is often taken out of context that it's okay NOT to forgive and hold grudges if someone doesn't repent and apologize. No, it's not ok. What it means is that if those who wronged us refuse to make things right with us, there's nothing we can do. There's no obligation to continue associating with them. Holding grudges turns to bitter anger. So we forgive them in our hearts, and we let them go.

  • Enabling someone to keep sinning against us is NOT what Jesus Christ meant by "turn the other cheek." It means - Do Not take revenge! Don't pay evil for evil.

Matthew 5:38-42

TEACHING ABOUT REVENGE

“You have heard the law that says the punishment must match the injury: ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say, DO NOT RESIST AN EVIL PERSON! If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also. If you are sued in court and your shirt is taken from you, give your coat, too. If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile, carry it two miles. Give to those who ask, and don’t turn away from those who want to borrow."

  • 1 Peter 3:9 "Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing."

  • In other words: what you give is what you get.

  • Proverbs 11:27 "If you search for good, you will find favor; but if you search for evil, it will find you!"

  • Proverbs 17:13 "If you repay good with evil, evil will never leave your house."

James 4:1-10

"What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you? You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.

You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. Do you think the Scriptures have no meaning? They say that God is passionate that the spirit he has placed within us should be FAITHFUL TO HIM. And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say,

“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor."

THE PRAYER THAT PLEASES GOD

1 Kings 3:5-14

"That night the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream, and God said, “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!”

Solomon replied, “You showed great and faithful love to your servant my father, David, because he was honest and true and faithful to you. And you have continued to show this great and faithful love to him today by giving him a son to sit on his throne.

“Now, O Lord my God, you have made me king instead of my father, David, but I am like a little child who doesn’t know his way around. And here I am in the midst of your own chosen people, a nation so great and numerous they cannot be counted! Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?”

The Lord was pleased that Solomon had ASKED FOR WISDOM. So God replied, “Because you have asked for wisdom in governing my people with justice and have NOT asked for a long life or wealth or the death of your enemies I will give you what you asked for! I will give you a wise and understanding heart such as no one else has had or ever will have! And I will also give you what you did not ask for—riches and fame! No other king in all the world will be compared to you for the rest of your life! And if you follow me and obey my decrees and my commands as your father, David, did, I will give you a long life.”

  • James 1:5-8 "IF YOU NEED WISDOM, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. DO NOT WAVER, for a person with DIVIDED LOYALTY is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people SHOULD NOT EXPECT TO RECEIVE ANYTHING from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do."

NOTE: Solomon's prayer consisted of praising God, acknowledging what He has done, thanksgiving, humble attitude, and showing love and care for people by asking how to govern them the way it would please The Lord. Solomon was given material things without asking for them because He TRUSTED GOD to take care of him. This applies to everyone: when we are focused on what God wants - He already knows what we need and takes care of us, without asking!

1 John 2:15-17

"Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever."

Matthew 6:25-34

“That is why I tell you NOT TO WORRY ABOUT EVERYDAY LIFEwhether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. WHY DO YOU HAVE SO LITTLE FAITH?

“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?" THESE THINGS DOMINATE THE THOUGHTS OF UNBELIEVERS, but YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER ALREADY KNOWS ALL YOUR NEEDS. SEEK THE KINGDOM OF GOD ABOVE ALL ELSE, AND LIVE RIGHTEOUSLY, AND HE WILL GIVE YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED.

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today."

NOTE: God supplies our NEEDS ➡️ if we WANT to please Him!

  • But if our WANTS are focused on this world and what gives us pleasure, those are wrong and selfish motives.

1 Chronicles 5:20 "THEY CRIED OUT TO GOD during the battle, and HE ANSWERED THEIR PRAYER BECAUSE THEY TRUSTED IN HIM. So the Hagrites and all their allies were defeated."

LACK OF FAITH AND TRUST

Exodus 15:24-26

"Then the people complained and turned against Moses. “What are we going to drink?” they demanded. So Moses cried out to the Lord for help, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. Moses threw it into the water, and this made the water good to drink.

It was there at Marah that the Lord set before them the following decree as a standard TO TEST THEIR FAITHFULNESS TO HIM. He said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you.”

  • John 4:13-14 "Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink THE WATER I GIVE will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring WITHIN THEM, giving them ETERNAL LIFE.”

Exodus 17:2-4

"So once more the people complained against Moses. “Give us water to drink!” they demanded.

“Quiet!” Moses replied. “Why are you complaining against me? And why are you testing the Lord?”

But tormented by thirst, they continued to argue with Moses. “Why did you bring us out of Egypt? Are you trying to kill us, our children, and our livestock with thirst?”

Then Moses cried out to the Lord, “What should I do with these people? They are ready to stone me!”

  • Exodus 17:7 "Moses named the place Massah (which means “TEST”) and Meribah (which means “ARGUING”) because the people of Israel argued with Moses and tested the Lord by saying, “Is the Lord here with us or not?”

1 Corinthians 10:3-8

"All of them ate the same spiritual food, and all of them drank the same spiritual water. For they drank from the spiritual rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ. Yet God was not pleased with most of them, and their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.

These things happened as a warning to us, so that we would not crave evil things as they did, or worship idols as some of them did. As the Scriptures say, “The people celebrated with feasting and drinking, and they indulged in pagan revelry.” And we must not engage in sexual immorality as some of them did, causing 23,000 of them to die in one day."

IMPORTANCE OF PRIVACY IN PRAYER

John 4:21–24

“Jesus replied, “Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem. You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews. But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

  • Matthew 14:23 “After sending them home, he went up into the hills BY HIMSELF TO PRAY. Night fell while he was there ALONE.”

  • Matthew 26:36 “Then Jesus went with them to the olive grove called Gethsemane, and he said, “Sit here while I GO OVER THERE TO PRAY."

  • Acts 9:40 “But Peter asked them all to leave the room; THEN HE KNELT AND PRAYED. Turning to the body he said, “Get up, Tabitha.” And she opened her eyes! When she saw Peter, she sat up!”

  • 2 Kings 4:32–33 “When Elisha arrived, the child was indeed dead, lying there on the prophet’s bed. He went in ALONE and SHUT THE DOOR BEHIND HIM and PRAYED TO THE LORD."

Isaiah 29:13-14

"And so the Lord says, “These people say they are mine. They honor me with their lips, but THEIR HEARTS ARE FAR FROM ME. And their worship of me is NOTHING BUT MAN-MADE RULES LEARNED BY ROTE. Because of this, I will once again astound these HYPOCRITES with amazing wonders. The wisdom of the wise will pass away, and the intelligence of the intelligent will disappear.”

public prayer

Luke 20:46-47

“Beware of these teachers of religious law! For they like to parade around in flowing robes and love to receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces. And how they love the seats of honor in the synagogues and the head table at banquets. Yet they shamelessly cheat widows out of their property and then PRETEND TO BE PIOUS BY MAKING LONG PRAYERS IN PUBLIC. Because of this, they will be severely punished.”

It also happens online:

public prayer

  • how is any of it helpful to whoever reads it? It is nothing but attention-seeking admiration for their self-righteousness. It's as if they compete with one another. Do they think God is not hearing them unless they post it online for all to read?! Is this faith? None of it is genuine, a bunch of empty words.

  • Hebrews 11:6 "And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who SINCERELY SEEK HIM."

Acts 26:20

"I preached first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that ALL MUST REPENT OF THEIR SINS AND TURN TO GOD—AND PROVE THEY HAVE CHANGED BY THE GOOD THINGS THEY DO."

  • NOTE: By what they DO, not what they SAY!

Public prayers are allowed in places of worship if the prayer is for the COMMON CAUSE:

Joshua 10:12-14

"On the day the Lord gave the Israelites victory over the Amorites, Joshua prayed to the Lord in front of all the people of Israel. He said,

“Let the sun stand still over Gibeon, and the moon over the valley of Aijalon.”

So the sun stood still and the moon stayed in place until the nation of Israel had defeated its enemies. Is this event not recorded in The Book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the middle of the sky, and it did not set as on a normal day. There has never been a day like this one before or since, when the Lord answered such a prayer. Surely the Lord fought for Israel that day!"

REPETITIONS

  • Matthew 6:7 "When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again."

This is about Chanting and Mantras; to recite something in a monotonous repetitive tone.

➡️ It is NOT about making your genuine requests known to the Lord.

  • Mark 14:39 "Then Jesus left them again and PRAYED THE SAME PRAYER AS BEFORE."

Luke 18:1-8

"One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.

“There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him REPEATEDLY, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”

Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”

  • NOTE: she kept asking for justice, not money or pleasure.

Isaiah 58

TRUE AND FALSE WORSHIP

“Shout with the voice of a trumpet blast. Shout aloud! Don’t be timid. Tell my people Israel of their SINS! Yet THEY ACT SO PIOUS! They come to the Temple every day and seem delighted to learn all about me. They ACT LIKE A RELIGIOUS NATION that would never abandon the laws of its God. They ask me to take action on their behalf, PRETENDING they want to be near me.

‘We have fasted before you!’ they say. ‘Why aren’t you impressed? We have been very hard on ourselves, and you don’t even notice it!’

“I will tell you why!” I respond. “It’s because you are fasting to please yourselves. Even while you fast, you keep oppressing your workers. What good is fasting when you keep on fighting and quarreling? This kind of fasting will never get you anywhere with me. You humble yourselves by going through the motions of penance, bowing your heads like reeds bending in the wind. You dress in burlap and cover yourselves with ashes. Is this what you call fasting? Do you really think this will please the Lord?

“No, this is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned; lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free, and remove the chains that bind people. Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help.

“Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind. Then when you call, the Lord will answer. ‘Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply.

“Remove the heavy yoke of oppression. Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumors! Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon. The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes.

“Keep the Sabbath day holy. Don’t pursue your own interests on that day, but enjoy the Sabbath and speak of it with delight as the Lord’s holy day. Honor the Sabbath in everything you do on that day, and don’t follow your own desires or talk idly. Then the Lord will be your delight. I will give you great honor and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised to your ancestor Jacob. I, the Lord, have spoken!”

  • When God speaks of Sabbath; He doesn't mean Saturdays. He talks about REPENTANCE which leads to Salvation and entry to His Holy Place of rest.

  • Colossians 2:16–17 “So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for NOT celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And CHRIST HIMSELF IS THAT REALITY.”

JESUS CHRIST'S PRAYERS TO LEARN FROM:

Matthew 11:25-30

Jesus’ Prayer of Thanksgiving

"At that time Jesus prayed this prayer: “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way!

“My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son CHOOSES TO REVEAL HIM.”

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

  • From this prayer we know that God teaches the secrets of Heaven, the riddles and parables of His Word to the humble and hides this knowledge from those who are proud and arrogant.

  • James 4:6 "And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

  • He also makes it clear that the humble are the ones He chooses and REVEALS Himself to them. This is not a figure of speech, but an actual event. I know this because He revealed Himself to me, and I saw Him with my eyes. It's an event that transforms a person and produces a testimony.

  • John 6:40 "For it is my Father’s will that ALL WHO SEE HIS SON AND BELIEVE IN HIM should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day.”

The following prayer (John 17) teaches us about those who turn to Him in faith and REPENTANCE.

  • How to have Eternal Life

  • Who receives the Eternal Life

  • What Jesus Christ prayed for

  • Jesus Christ is God

  • Unity in the Holy Spirit

  • Being set apart from the world (BORN AGAIN)

John 17

The Prayer of Jesus

"After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so he can give glory back to you. For you have given him AUTHORITY OVER EVERYONE. HE GIVES ETERNAL LIFE TO EACH ONE YOU HAVE GIVEN HIM. And this is the way to have eternal life—TO KNOW YOU, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. Now, Father, bring me into the GLORY WE SHARED BEFORE THE WORLD BEGAN.

“I HAVE REVEALED YOU TO THE ONES YOU GAVE ME FROM THIS WORLD. They were always yours. You gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything I have is a gift from you, for I have passed on to them the message you gave me. THEY ACCEPTED IT AND KNOW THAT I CAME FROM YOU, AND THEY BELIEVE YOU SENT ME.

  • John 11:40 "Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would SEE GOD'S GLORY if you believe?”

“My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you. All who are mine belong to you, and you have given them to me, so THEY GRING ME GLORY. Now I am departing from the world; they are staying in this world, but I am coming to you. HOLY FATHER, YOU HAVE GIVEN ME YOUR NAME; now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be UNITED JUST AS WE ARE. During my time here, I protected them by the power of the name you gave me. I guarded them so that not one was lost, except the one headed for destruction, as the Scriptures foretold.

“Now I am coming to you. I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy. I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They do not belong to this world any more than I do. MAKE THEM HOLY BY YOUR TRUTH; TEACH THEM YOUR WORD, WHICH IS TRUTH.

  • 1 John 2:27 "But you have RECEIVED THE HOLY SPIRIT, and HE LIVES WITHIN YOU, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For THE SPIRIT TEACHES YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ."

Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world. And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth.

“I am praying NOT ONLY FOR THESE DISCIPLES but also for ALL WHO WILL EVER BELIEVE IN ME THROUGH THEIR MESSAGE. I pray that they will ALL BE ONE, JUST AS YOU AND I ARE ONE—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And MAY THEY BE IN US so that the world will believe you sent me.

  • John 14:23 "Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and WE WILL COME AND MAKE OUR HOME WITH EACH OF THEM."

“I HAVE GIVEN THEM THE GLORY YOU GAVE ME, so they may be ONE AS WE ARE ONE. I AM IN THEM AND YOU ARE IN ME. May they experience such PERFECT UNITY that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!

“O righteous Father, the world doesn’t know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me. I have REVEALED YOU TO THEM, and I WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO. Then your love for me will be IN THEM, and I WILL BE IN THEM.”

  • 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 "But whenever someone turns to the Lord, THE VEIL IS TAKEN AWAY. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So ALL OF US WHO HAVE HAD THAT VEIL REMOVED CAN SEE AND REFLECT THE GLORY OF THE LORD. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image."

Matthew 26:42

"Then Jesus left them a second time and prayed, “My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, YOUR WILL BE DONE.”

  • This is part of the prayer; May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. We may not understand the purpose of what God wants us to do, but that's a test of our trust in Him.

  • If Jesus Christ was never crucified, we all would be doomed to hell. Redemption would never be possible. There would be no one to save us.

1 Peter 4:1-2

"So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and BE READY TO SUFFER, TOO. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin. You won’t spend the rest of your lives chasing your own desires, but YOU WILL BE ANXIOUS TO DO THE WILL OF GOD."
